I'm coming back!

I've been off for a while...a LONG while, but I'm going to try to get back into it! We got pregnant and found out in May and not a week later I was struck with the horrible horrible Morning Sickness. It was a long treck through July and into August but I managed to pull out of it! I don't want to jinx myself here but I feel pretty darn good right now...aside from the fact that it's a little difficult to bend over to pick things up and roll off the couch or out of bed but I can deal with that :) I will be back later to post pictures and other fun things that have gone on in the Campbell Family in the past few months! “Green” Cleaning

A friend of mine posted these recipes and I wanted to pass them on for those of you who are looking for things around the house to use for cleaning! Enjoy and feel free to comment with any other recipes you’ve tried that have worked!

All Purpose Cleaner
This works good for cleaning the table and counters, washing windows, mopping the floor, cleaning the toilet, etc...
Ingredients:
White distilled vinegar
Water
Directions:
1. Mix 1/2 part vinegar to one part water in spray bottle.
2. As an added boost, add in essential oils of lavender, tea tree, rosemary or citrus.

Carpet Freshener
Ingredients:
Corn Starch
Essential oils if you'd like it smelling good.
Directions:
1.Fill sugar shaker bottle with cornstarch. If you're using essential oils, sprinkle a few drops in and shake well till mixed.
2.Sprinkle cornstarch on carpet and let sit for 15-20 minutes then vacuum.

Carpet Stain Remover
I've combined a couple things I saw online and changed some ratios. This actually got 4 year old stains off my carpet! Yippee!!!
Ingredients:
Very warm water
Shampoo
All purpose cleaner with lavendar essential oil
Directions:
1. Use 3oz very warm water and 2 oz shampoo.
2. Place in spray bottle and swirl till combined.
3. Spray the shampoo mixture on carpet stains - not too much or it will be almost impossible to clean up. Let sit for 3 minutes (this is important).
4. Scrub with a nice scrubbing brush, then spray with all purpose cleaner.
5. Scrub again and then use a dry cloth to wipe away an excess soap/water.
You may need to spray a couple more times with the all purpose cleaner to get the soap suds out. Just keep working it with a dry cloth

Dishwasher Cleaner
This is best done once a month as a maintenance. However, I used my dishwasher for at least a year before I did this. It worked great!
Ingredients:
White distilled vinegar
Directions:
1.Get a 1 cup measure and fill with vinegar.
2.Place on bottom rack of dishwasher and run a hot, long cycle.

Drain Cleaner
Ingredients:
Baking Soda
Vinegar
Directions:
1. Dump 1/2 cup baking soda down drain.
2. Pour 1/2 cup vinegar down after baking soda.
This will clear most drains by itself. I had a very horribly bad clog in our sink. I waited till things started bubbling up into the sink and skimmed them out. I kept repeating pouring down baking soda, then vinegar and skimming things out till it stopped working - then I took a plunger and with 3 good plunges, my drain ran free.

Furniture Polish
I have yet to use this one - I'm just waiting for mine to run out.
Ingredients:
1/4 cup olive oil
1/8 cup lemon juice
Directions:
1. Put into glass jar with mister sprayer - you can find these at health food stores.
2. Shake well to incorporate.

Laundry Detergent
Ingredients:
2 1/2 ounces bath soap, grated into flakes - approx. 1/2 bar fells naptha or castile.
1 cup borax
1 cup washing soda
Directions:
1. Mix together and keep in closed container.
2. Use one tablespoon per load.
************************************************** *************************************
Metal Cleaner
I have not used these but found it online here. Let me know if any work for you
*Aluminum: using a soft cloth, clean with a solution of cream of tartar and water.
*Brass or bronze: polish with a soft cloth dipped in lemon and baking-soda solution, or vinegar and salt solution.
*Chrome: polish with baby oil, vinegar, http://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gifor aluminum foil shiny side out.
*Copper: soak a cotton rag in a pot of boiling water with 1 tablespoon salt and 1 cup white vinegar. Apply to copper while hot; let cool, then wipe clean. For tougher jobs, sprinkle baking soda or lemon juice on a soft cloth, then wipe. For copper cookware, sprinkle a lemon wedge with salt, then scrub.
*Gold: clean with toothpaste, or a paste of salt, vinegar, and flour.
*Silver: line a pan with aluminum foil and fill with water; add a teaspoon each of baking soda and salt. Bring to a boil and immerse silver. Polish with soft cloth.
*Stainless steel: clean with a cl

oth dampened with undiluted white vinegar, or olive oil. For stainless cookware, mix 4 tbs baking soda in 1 qt water, and apply using a soft cloth. Wipe dry using a clean cloth.

Mold and Mildew Cleaner
Ingredients:
White distilled vinegar
Essential oils - Lavender or tea tree are best
Directions:
1. Put vinegar full strength in a spray bottle.
2. Add several drops of essential oil

and swirl bottle together.
3. Use full strength on affected area. There is no need to rinse.

Soft Scrub 1
Ingredients:
Baking Soda
Water
Directions:
1.Sprinkle area with

baking soda and moisten with water or your vinegar/water solution.

Soft Scrub 2
Ingredients:
1/2 cup Baking Soda
Liquid dish soap
Directions:
1. Pour baking soda in bowl.
2. Squeeze enough dish soap in to make a paste and stir.

How beautiful it’s been outside! We love it when Spring comes…the flowers are coming up, the sticks and leftover leaves are all over the yard (but we have fun cleaning them up) and the beautiful sun with NO WINTER COATS! We’ve been spending a lot of time outside lately and the girls are loving every minute of it. We' have got to spend time at the park with out friends and it’s been wonderful!

Is it necessary?

All the negativity in this world…

Seems like everything these days is based around negativity. It seems like everyone is bashing Obama or our government in general; gossiping about who’s pregnant or who cheated on their husband or who they were seen with and well…surely that means they’re up to no good. :( It makes me sad.

Is it worth it?...

I don’t think so. We live such a short life, do you really want to fill it with all the negatives? I don’t. It’s awesome to see what a reaction you can get from a stranger by smiling at them, holding the door for them or just simply asking if they need any help.

Is it worth being angry at your friend for not calling you back when they said they would, when in all reality they probably got busy and forgot or it got too late…instead it would be much more pleasant for you to get together and play some cards.

Try it…

For the next week (start small) make it a goal of yours to

**smile at 1 new person a day

**think twice before you say a negative comment about anyone or anything…is it THAT important?

**hug a family member, friend or stranger at LEAST once a day

I think all of these things are important to living a happier life for you and everyone you come in contact with.

It’s Friday, enjoy yourself. Live life to the fullest and take advantage of every pleasant moment you get.

I have taken the plunge and decided to be a Scentsy consultant! I am extremely excited about this…truly. I love the products, and I also believe that this can grow to be a great business.

First off… it was extremely simple to sign up. I simply went to my friend Erica’s website (mine is www.BrookeCampbell.scentsy.us) and was able to “Join her Team” straight from there. You would think that selling something with so many scents that you would have a ton of heavy candles to carry around. NOPE. THE SUN IS SHINING!!!

I can’t believe it, the sun is shining and it was 36 degrees when I got home from preschool at 11:45! I am so tired of the cold, the ice and the snow that has been on the ground since November. The kids got to go outside to play at preschool and we’re on the way to being able to see grass in this town before May!

Corey’s cousin, Nikki, and her family came to visit us this weekend! We had a great time with them. We met them at Get-A-Way bar in Manley for lunch (seemed like a good idea at the time). The food was wonderful but the lady was not very pleasant and the floor was SOOOO dirty…gross. The floor was so dirty that when I picked my purse up off the floor and set it on my lap, I had a coating of dust/dirt on my legs. It was disgusting. Anyways, we got our fried food and awesomely fat burgers and although the only drinks were in bottles or can, we had a great time hanging out with them. After the girls played in the house and watched a Barbie movie, we went up to the skating rink. Everyone had skates on including Nikki and Mauro! What a wonderful time we had with them.

Hy-Vee Cake Competition

On Tuesday Jordyn and I went to the Mall of the Bluffs to watch Sharon (my aunt) in the cake competition. This was the first time I had been to something like this and it reminded of what you see on tv! It was awesome to see so many talented women decorating. They had 3 hours to complete a 3 tiered cake, 12 (maybe 18, I don’t remember) cupcakes into a cake, full sheet cake, 1/2 sheet cake, and 12 cookies. I think that’s all it was! Sharon did a Halloween theme and she did amazing, she even had steam around the set and coming out of the haunted house’s smoke stack. She’s awesome! Jordyn was a trooper throughout. She did fall asleep during the last 45 minutes or so and kept calling Sharon Grandma, it was cute :)

New Years Day 2010!

My cousin, Laine Stahr was flying from Tennessee to Colorado in a US Army UH 60 Blackhawk on New Years Day and got to land it on his parents farm “Stahr Hill” in the bean field just down the road from my Dad’s house! It was about 5 degrees out that day and windy but many people anxiously waited their arrival! I took lots of pictures so be prepared! (surprise surprise!)

Our Trip to Hemingford

Our trip started out a day early due to the prediction of ice, snow and wind. We got out there Tuesday night and the weather decided that it would wait until Christmas Eve. We had a great time hanging out with Corey’s family and getting to see the new baby, Sofia! Christmas Eve we went to church and watched Emma in the program. After that we went out to Corey’s Aunt Joy and Uncle Brad’s house. We ate some yummy food, the kids opened presents and we enjoyed time with each other!

Christmas day we went to Corey’s Grandma Virginia’s house driving through the drifts to get there. We were planning to leave the next morning (Saturday) to head to my Dad’s house for Christmas but as most of you know, the closed interstate was not going to allow for that so instead we hung out with the family and the went to supper at the Legion and watched the Foosball Tournament in town.

Jordyn’s Adventure

As some of you already know, Friday night Jordyn got it by a dog. She’s been quite the trooper throughout it all though. When we went to pick the girls up after it had happened and they had her all cleaned up with a bandaid over it, Corey was carrying her to the TrailBlazer and slipped on the ice, hitting Jordyn’s face on his shoulder and popping the whole thing open again. The poor girl looked like she had been in a car accident with blood covering her face and sitting in her eye.

Saturday morning I took her into the doctor while Corey took Shaylynn to Mahoney to play with the Koseks. Dr. Manning thought that we should probably put a couple stitches in there just to pull the gap shut so she didn’t have quite as big of a scar after it heals. Unfortunately it was just a nurse, the doctor and the front desk lady working so I had to help hold her arms down as she put a big long needle just below her eye to numb it. She kept crying, owie, Mommy, owie Mommy. It made me want to cry too :( She did excellent though. We had to wait at Walgreens for her antibiotic to get filled and she picked out a stuffed puppy. On the way home she said, “Mommy, cheek hurts"” so we stopped, I gave her some Motrin and then we continued on. She fell asleep about Eagle and we headed up to Mahoney. I know that she didn’t know she was missing out but I mentioned “Boo Boo” (Niki) to her and she was so excited to see her. I also figured that at least with the stitches, surely the whole thing couldn’t pop open again this way. By the end of the night, she did say it was “itchy” so she took a bath and was ready to just lay back and chill.

She gets her stitches out tomorrow…she’s very excited. We’ve been putting Vasaline on them to keep it moist so hopefully they won’t hurt so bad when they pull them out tomorrow. Today was the first time she didn’t cry and fight me to put it on too!

First stop…Christmas. The Sunday before Christmas we always have our big Peterson Christmas! This year we had it at the skating rink in Elmwood. There was a great turn out, the kids had a blast, lots of food and Santa even visited! Yay! Here’s some pictures from the get together and I am going to upload all of the pics to an online album so any of the family members can bring them up and print them!

Ugh, I'm tired of people being sick! We've been lucky because everyone seems to only be getting it for a day around here but seriously, it's barely November and everyone's sick everywhere!

I'm not usually a germ-a-phobe but I feel like my entire house needs sanitized from top to bottom. I know every towel in this house has been washed at least twice in the last week and when we all just sit around feeling like crap then nothing gets accomplished in this house other than dishes and laundry.

We are in the process of decluttering our house and trust me, when you live in a house this size with this many people...it's time. I will feel so much better about it when we're all done but it has felt good to get done as much as we have. We were just really hoping for a more productive weekend since we had Corey home this weekend.

Arbor Day Farm

This past weekend Corey, Shaylynn, Jordyn and I went to the Arbor Day Farm in Nebraska City. We had so much fun and learned alot too! It was so peaceful and adventurous and the apples were delicious!

The Nebraska State Fair!

Over Labor Day weekend we had some great friends, Kent and Erin Gerih, come down and spend time with us from McCook. Kent’s main goal for this trip was to go to Bass Pro Shops. They got in late Friday night (ok, late for me!) and we planned to get up and go in the morning. Well…we didn’t get started quite as soon as I had planned because I was simply going to go up to the Cenex and get the boys Biscuits and Gravy but it ended up taking me an hour. (long story) Anyways, I finally got back and we headed out. Kent had full intentions of being there at least half of the day, so they Campbells started off the trip with jerky, sour gummy worms, Diet Coke and Root Beer. The kids had a blast! They saw the fish, the boats (Corey and Jordyn enjoyed this part the most), and best of all…we did the hunting simulator! I really think I should take up hunting because I kinda kicked butt!! We had a great time and Kent found a little of what he was looking for as well.

After that we headed over to Quaker Steak and Lube for lunch. It was a cool place with yummy food! I had their fresh baked potato chips…mmmmmmm!

Saturday night we went to the One Eyed Dog in Eagle to watch the game. Needless to say, we were all ready for bed by the time we got home. Ok, so the girls, Erin and I were…the guys hunt out and drank a couple beers first.

Sunday we went to the State Fair! This was a first for Kent and Erin, but I’m sure it was the first of many since it’s moving to Grand Island.

Kent was supposed to eat a Corn Dog so we got his proof pictures!

Busy Weekend!

Last weekend was Skyler's Confirmation. We went out and got to spend Saturday evening with Mom, Skyler, Niki, Keenan and Kobie. We went to eat supper at Kerry's. After we were finished, Mom and Skyler had stuff they needed to get home and take care of for Sunday so Corey, the girls and I along with Niki, Keenan and Kobie went to the park (it was nice!) and played for a good hour or so before we headed back to moms for bed. Kaden got to spend the afternoon/evening with Scott in the field!

Kaden and Jordyn did alot of strolling around with Corey at Hunters' Lounge in Waco during Skyler's Confirmation Open House. They both had fun and no one had any complaints :)

Guess this is what happens when you leave your boots lay around...you never know who will be wearing them outta there!

Shay had her Spring Program last Friday night and did a wonderful job singing all of her songs. Their last day of school was Tuesday so she's off until August! (We're already finding lots of things to do OUTSIDE to keep them busy!)

We have definately been spending alot of time outside the last few days while it's been nice but of course our girls know EXACTLY how to make mud if they can't find any to play in. We've already got a routine set up for when we come back in the house and it consists of dropping their shoes and all of their clothes right inside the back door and straight to the tub. They've been getting multiple baths in a day!

The kids got to ride around with Corey and Brody while I packed for Confirmation. Both of them always have such a great time when they're out riding!

Been Busy!

Yep, it's been a while, but I'll guarantee you that we've been busy! A couple weeks ago we went to Claire Ehler's birthday party at the Children's Museum and the girls had a blast! Well, all the kids had a blast (even Corey!).

Kaden and Jordyn were definately lovin on each other!!

I know you're all surprised but they got to dress up and Shay LOVED it!

Here's the boys! Having a house full of girls, there must be something to even it out. Duke and Rocky were finally able to be caught on camera snuggling. They know as soon as I get the camera out most of the time and are both up and moving. Ya know, they wouldn't want anyone to think that they actually get along and like each other!

It got nice outside finally! The girls had a great time playing but since there wasn't any mud to play in, they made their own with the water from Duke's dish and the dirt by the house. Jordyn wanted her hands clean...since she was already dirty, I showed her how to wash them in the dish and wipe them on her shirt! :)

Shay and Jordyn had alot of fun at Easter! We went to the Seward Country Club with the Cradick side of the family and then drove to Ceresco to hang out with Sharon and the Peterson side of the family! Most parents have nice pictures of their kids in their Easter dresses together...not this one. If I try to take their pictures together on purpose it ends up frustrating me because they're both pains in the butt! Here's Shay above, outside of Sharon's house, looking for candy!

Skating Fun!

The last couple weekends Corey has been out of town teaching. He taught in St. Louis and then New York this weekend. We though have definately been keeping busy. The girls and I have spent alot of time at the rink from helping with birthday parties, to playing dodgeball, to riding on the scooters.

Shay has been taking skating lessons at the rink also on Thursday nights. She is having a blast. She's a pretty good skater so now Rhonda's teaching her to skate backwards and do her crossovers when she's turning.

I'm very excited to say I'll be getting in my very own skates this week as well!! I'm definately excited about that.

Of course, Julie's always taking pictures!

Shay went to Taylor's birthday party at the rink last Saturday morning!

As you can see, Jordyn was a tad bit tired and Brody skated around with her (he's a much better skater...I wouldn't do it because we'd both wipe out) and she crashed on him. After she was out he decided he'd better sit down! Millie and him are watching her sleep!

We have met some of the most amazing people being at the rink. Vince and Julie love our girls as do most of the other people that go there! They're all very helpful and wanting to play with and hold/carry Jordyn around too. They definately all help us me with my sanity when it's just us!

Ice Skating and Playing!

Last weekend we took the girls to Mahoney State Park to play and try out Shay's Ice Skates. Both girls had a blast. We met up with Lori and Rena there and some of their family that we also hung out with at Vala's Pumpkin Patch this last fall. There is a huge play area that you can climb in, up, around, slides and ball pits. They had a blast. We got there around 12:30 and left around 5:30. $2 a person over the age of 2 so all of us got in and played for $6!!!

Last Friday we put braids in Shay's hair and took them out on Wednesday night before i left for Minnesota. The pictures at the bottom are of her braids and then the after curls that she had waited for the whole time!!!

Circle ME is a natural family store that Jen & Bo Bryson opened in November in Lincoln. I got the privledge to help Jen decide what products would be carried in the store and will get to help with the Cloth Diapering and Baby Wearing classes that we will have there!

The store is filled with all different brands of Cloth Diapers, Baby Carriers, Natural Soaps and lotions, Wooden Toys, Diaper Creams and many other products. Christmas and New Years!

The whole family had a wonderful Christmas and New Years! The girls definately didn't go without gifts this Christmas. Shay got a dollhouse from Corey and I and loves to play with it. Jordyn also got her own dollhouse and she's able to play with that and stay out of Shay's. The butterfly tent that the girls got stays up in the living room and they both love to play and "hide" in there. The indoor trampoline gets alot of use. Within 2 days of putting it together, Shay had a fat lip because her and Jordyn were jumping together and they hit heads.

New Years we spent and the skating rink. There was an all-nighter that started 6:30 New Years Eve until 6:30 New Years Day. I worked up there while Shay ran and skated and did her thing. Corey and Jordyn came up and hung out until about 10:00 when Jordyn got tired and they went to bed. Shay got to pull the string to make the balloons drop at midnight and thought that was pretty cool. After skating, dancing, dodgeball and bingo, I convinced Shay that we HAD to go home at 2:30 am. Mom was getting tired and while Shay thought she had lots of energy left, she was slowly fading.

Christmas is almost here!

Can you believe it? Do you have your shopping done and presents wrapped? I do for the most part, a couple left to wrap!

Friday night Shay had her preschool program and I am soooo proud of my little girl! She knew almost every word to every song and they sang a lot of songs! Here's a picture of her from before the program and then a picture of her with mom and grandma that came to Elmwood for her program! Shay was very excited that they came and brought Skyler down too!

We had a fun weekend ending with the Peterson Christmas at Grandma Jo's house! Everyone had a great time, filled their bellies and came home with leftovers!

I almost forgot to tell you "I" got a Christmas present from Brody...he's a friend of our here in Elmwood. Julie had us over for Christmas on Thursday night and I got a gift, actually two. Julie gave me a candle and Brody built me a picnic table. Ok, so really the picnic table is for the girls, my big butt doesn't fit quite as comfortably as the girls' does!

Birthday Party's Over and Christmas is Coming!

Ready or not, here it comes...Christmas that is! Just over a week left and I don't have quite all of my shopping done. Do you? The girls' birthday party was at the beginning of the month. We did it together and before Christmas so Shay had a chance to enjoy her birthday too so it wasn't crammed in with Christmas. It was at the Flying Wheels skating rink and the girls, along with the other kids had an amazing time! It was so much fun for everybody. Thanks to all of you that came and celebrated this day with the girls, they appreciated everything as did Corey and I!
